Grace Foo won the hotly contended Future Leader award for her pivotal role in government policy development work, such as the 2019 Section J revision, expansion of NABERS to other sectors, impact of changing climate on building energy and design, and future-proofing buildings for integration of distributed energy resources.

James Spears won the W.R. Ahern Award, which recognises the best technical paper published in Ecolibrium (the official journal of AIRAH). James’ paper “Improving pump efficiency – A combination of regulation and good design” was published in the December 2019 edition. What do you love about working with DeltaQ?

What I love about working at DeltaQ is the fact that we get to work on such a wide range of projects, many of which are on the edge of the energy industry. In addition, we get to tackle projects and assignments with passionate and motivated clients. It is so refreshing to engage with a client that says \”What else could we do, can we push the boundaries, can we get ahead of the market?\”

On top of this, the DeltaQ team is a cohesive and supporting group of professionals, willing to go the extra mile to uncover those \”ahead of the market\” options that clients are seeking.

Tell us one thing quirky about yourself.

Quirky? I\’m not quirky. Everyone that has tried custard in their coffee agrees that it is great. And just to be clear, bananas go with everything….

What interesting projects did/are you working on at DeltaQ?

We are so lucky at DeltaQ, we get to tackle cutting edge projects that combine a mix of tried and tested measures together with new technologies and processes. For example, incorporating batteries in solution design or developing new generation/procurement models for our clients.

Oh, and as MD I get to delegate, so I only ever have interesting projects. Was I meant to say that…?

What do you think DeltaQ can do for our current and prospective clients?

When we established DeltaQ, there was a conscious decision to bring on-board a team of diverse skills. This means that not only are we well positioned to help clients develop a long term forward energy strategy/road map, we also have the team to conduct all the analysis, engineering and planning to deliver the project and ensure the energy outcomes are realised.

In today\’s market, clients need to develop integrated energy strategies – you can no longer afford to keep the Supply and Demand sides of energy separate. Also, with all our involvement in energy policy development, we are always up to date and able to convert these insights into practical opportunities in client energy road maps.

If you could offer one piece of advice for our readers (relevant to energy/energy efficiency/sustainability), what would that be?

If you are serious about energy efficiency and cost savings, renewables and long term sustainability, you need a plan.

Delta Q can help you develop that plan, deliver on agreed actions and keep the plan up to date and relevant.

What do you love about working with DeltaQ?

Doing great things with great people. It is fantastic to be working in an environment where people work together to do the right thing for clients and the planet.

Tell us one thing quirky about yourself.

I work to fund my model railway habit. I have been building a model of Kingswear Station in Devon for nearly 20 years…..it’s getting there slowly…..

What interesting projects did/are you working on at DeltaQ?

Developing NABERS for the UK has been one of my main projects for DeltaQ. It’s been fascinating understanding the many differences between the UK and Australian office markets and working out how to set up the right parameters to embark the UK on the same journey towards massive energy savings that we have achieved here.

What do you think DeltaQ can do for our current and prospective clients?

When it comes to environmental performance, it is all about getting real results that make a difference. DeltaQ specialises in getting those real results.

If you could offer one piece of advice for our readers (relevant to energy/energy efficiency/sustainability), what would that be?

Act now to reduce your personal and corporate emissions footprint. With the ever reducing price of renewable energy, it is both easy and cost effective to switch to renewable electricity, and most energy efficiency not only comes with monetary savings but also gives you better service outcomes. What’s not to like?

Let us share our knowledge about Building Tuning…

DeltaQ prides ourselves in our ability to retro-commission and massage building services in pre-loved buildings in order to hit new heights in energy performance.

We believe that your first tier of investment for enhanced energy performance is by targeting the low hanging fruit of optimising building HVAC controls.

Have you ever wondered how?

Well, DeltaQ has partnered with AIRAH to deliver a series of Building Tuning seminars across major Australian cities. We are very proud that one of our Principal Consultants, James Spears, will be presenting the course content throughout the month of September.
